Museum Quality Wood Hughes Figural Cruet Stand Bottles

A museum quality and an exceedingly rare circa 1875 sterling silver cruet stand with cut glass bottles and sterling silver screw on tops and crystal stoppers by Wood & Hughes, of New York, the stand with a swing handle and a central 3-dimensional female figure draped with a a flowing robe, wearing a helmet and holding with upraised arms a spherical globe - the world; the swivel stand with six (6) applied birds with wings spread; the base with spherical glove and 3 legs on a raised pedestal. There are six (6) cut glass cruet bottles -- three (3) with stoppers and three (3) with screw on sterling silver tops. Dimensions: 17 3/4 inches tall by 8 inches in diameter. On base -- Christmas 1875 - monogram. Marked as illustrated in photo. In excellent condition, the bottles and stoppers/tops are original, no chips or flaws.

Cruet stands were an essential part of 19th century family and entertaining life as it held oils, vinegar, mustard and other condiments.
